Through Mentor2Youth, children are given the necessary support system that they require to unleash their capabilities and harbor success. We are not just an organization- we are an opportunity. We provide children with the opportunity to better themselves and their community through mentoring and encouragement.
Mikki Smith, a volunteer of two years, says, “It is really nice to see students who remind you of yourself, and helping them see the possibilities they didn’t know they had. It empowers people, and… helps bring out their capabilities.”
It is important for children to know that they are not alone- that there are people there to understand and support them. It is our goal to reach out to students grades three through twelve and let them know we are here for them. That we care. We give one on one mentoring, giving a student someone they can trust and talk to- giving them a listening ear and whatever assistance we are capable of providing.
Through Mentor2Youth we give, as Mikki States, “Social, educational, environmental, and some spiritual development.”
Our program not only helps children, but the community as a whole. As our children grow and develop into well-rounded citizens, our community itself grows through the impact they make. The more children and teens believe in themselves, the more expansive their capability become.

Here, we have children in our community having a great time at Fall Fest; a great day full of fun and laughter in Washtenaw County.
As Mikki puts it, “We create a cycle with the students- when they see how invested we are in them, they want to come back later on in life and get involved, to have that same impact on another student. They get others involved and it helps spread the word. This builds up student’s belief and pride in themselves and what they can do to help bring forth an impact and in turn they give back to the community.”
