Children need a positive and safe environment to learn, develop, and prosper. Mentor2Youth provides that for them, giving them the benefits of having someone there to help guide and encourage them along the path to success.
Daryl Holman Jr. states, “The students who entered the program needing special attention and guidance towards academic success, graduation, and college, received it and are now in a much better place than they were before entering the program.”
This is the most significant aspect of Mentor2Youth, as children are our future, and their education, self-worth, and determination are the most important part of this nation’s development. To strive and succeed in our future, we need our children to strive and succeed to help bring us to that point.
As Daryl says about how Mentor2Youth can provide character development, “The students who stay in the program leave better than they came in, and I feel like that’s the goal.”
Good character is not only important with every day social interactions, but it is highly beneficial with school, college, and applying for a future career. Mentor2Youth is goal-oriented. We wish to help kids develop into a leader- someone who is looked up to and respected, someone who can make a change in our community, or wherever they end up. We work not only with the students, but with our volunteers, too. For Daryl, who wishes to have a future in management roles in a public organization, he was able to “pick up a lot and learn through trial by fire.”
“I have more to put on my resume than most people who did their internships with other big organizations; I learned a lot about business management and fundraising. [Also,] preparation- in anything, preparation is key… The more you know before walking in the door the better off you are,” says Daryl.
Mentor2Youth is an organization set on helping character, educational, and professional development.
Daryl’s thoughts on Mentor2Youth provide an understanding of what this organization is all about- “I think M2Y is more symbolic of what mentoring and community service should be…and that’s commendable in itself- an organization that stands behind its purpose, puts in the work, and produces results is an honor for any community to have within its body.”
