Stand Up 4 Youth is a campaign sponsored by Mentor2Youth. Through Youth L.E.A.D., we focus on assisting high school students grades 9th and 10th. Through this program, we provide mentoring and tutoring for academic success and information about colleges and work development. Mentor2Youth hopes to give a safe learning environment and also the opportunity for students to increase their chances of graduating on time. Only 60% of minority students graduate in the United States- Stand Up 4 Youth hopes to raise this statistic by emphasizing the importance of graduation and receiving a proper education. It has also been found that the majority of those who do not graduate are more likely to head down the wrong path and by doing so are more at risk of being incarcerated. By helping students believe in themselves and their education, we are both helping keep them on the right path by seeing the importance of education, and hopefully increasing their chances at success.
We believe in the youth. We provide them with someone they can trust, someone who cares about their overall success, and someone they can look up to and receive support from when they feel there is nobody else willing to do that. This program started in March, with 15 students- the average GPA being 1.1, with four students at a 0.0, and the highest as a 2.5. At the end of the program, those GPAs increased between 2.75 and 3.5. Giving youth someone to believe in them can really help, and you can help, too.
