“Budgeting. Most kids I go to school with are about chasing fast money, doing things they maybe aren’t suppose to. I want to go to college, you know? If I want to go to college I’ll probably have to learn how to budget. Mentor2Youth has helped me with that.”
Jama, who will begin his senior year soon, has career aspirations of entering the medical field to become a neurosurgeon. When Jama started with Mentor2Youth during the 2013-2014 school year, his GPA was a 1.83. He is now an Honor Roll student.
B.O.S.S. (Bringing Out Self-Sufficiency) is a college/career readiness program focuses on assisting high school youth with staying on track to graduate high school while exposing them to various post-secondary education and career pathways. High school youth, like Jama, work on useful skills like budgeting in order to assist them in mapping out their educational futures.
