About Us
Mentor2Youth Inc. is a Michigan 501(c)3 founded by Eastern Michigan graduate and current Michigan State grad student Emmanuel Jones in 2011. Living in the city of Ypsilanti, Emmanuel has witnessed the stark disadvantages that urban communities are faced with from an educational, financial and societal standpoint. He has witnessed firsthand how this can stagnate the personal and academic development of youth who want an opportunity to succeed. The cycle of poverty, ignorance and crime is prevalent in lower-income areas. During his graduate program, Emmanuel conducted research to find out what could be done to change this norm
Mentor2Youth has served more than 200 disadvantaged or challenged youth in Southeastern Michigan by providing free mentoring and tutoring services. Our mission is to help support and guide our youth down a path of academic and personal achievement. We understand the importance of an education but, believe this must be supplemented with life-long learning skills to truly impact youth. Our team is committed to closing the racial-achievement gap that exist and providing a positive and structured learning environment that caters to the problems these youth face every day.
Mentor2Youth Inc. was founded on the idea of helping those in need. Since our organization was established, we have endeavored to provide help where the need is greatest.
That is why we are especially happy to find new volunteers who share our commitment to doing good in the world. Do you want to support us by helping with our work? Please look at our volunteer positions. A helping hand is always greatly appreciated!
