What does mentoring mean to you?
Although I am not a mentor, I plan many of the fun activity nights for the students. Through doing this I not only get to plan, but also interact with everyone at the event. I love seeing the students enjoy the activities and games I planned, and make memories with each other.
Where are you from? A little short bio about yourself.
I am from Cadillac, Michigan, a small town in northern Michigan. I am a freshman this year at Eastern Michigan University majoring in Social Work. Besides school work and volunteering, I also enjoy watching sports and spending times with my friends and family.
How did you get involved with Mentor2Youth?
I met Devan, Mentor2Youth’s site coordinator, at a job fair at EMU. From there, I applied and became a volunteer event planner!
What impact do you feel Mentor2Youth is having on the children and how has it helped you grow?
I am amazed by each volunteer and worker in this organization’s hard work. Everyone has a goal of improving the children’s lives anywhere from helping them with schoolwork to simply putting a smile on their faces. They also serve as great role models for the students they are interacting with.
What are your hopes for the organization and how do you feel people can support Mentor2Youth?
I think it would be great for Mentor2Youth to keep expanding and reaching more and more students, because it is such an impactful program. There are many ways to contribute to this growth, including donations, volunteering, and spreading the word about this organization.
